Swami Atmapriyananda is a monk of the Ramakrishna Orderand an Indian university administrator. He was the first Vice-Chancellor of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University. He received his Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics involving elementary particle theory from the University of Madras. He has a number of research publications in this area in reputed international journals. He joined the Ramakrishna Order of monks in 1978 inspired by Ramakrishna-Vivekananda’s ideology of spiritual liberation combined with service to humanity in the spirit of worship of God in man and has been serving higher education institutions for nearly four decades. Swami Atmapriyananda served as the VC of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University (Deemed) for a little more than 15 years (from July 2005 to August 2020) since its very inception of this unique institution that was envisioned by Swami Vivekananda himself. He continues to be associated with RKMVERI as a Pro-Chancellor and try to contribute to its further growth in that capacity and also continue as the Secretary of the University Centre at Belur. He is also involved as a Council member or invited participant of a large number of global organizations working for peace and harmony, interfaith dialogue and interreligious understanding, comparative mysticism and spirituality, holistic welfare of children across the globe, etc. He travels extensively in India and abroad as an invited speaker to preach and interact with eager spiritual seekers.
